Lightburn shutting down while trying to navigate to folders and files

LB has been running fine for quite a while yet it started to shut down when trying to navigate to different folders and files. I just figured out the work around by using the “open” button rather then double clicking on the folder/file to navigate through.

Upgrading to the latest version did not help, reinstalling it to the latest version did not help, reinstalling it to an earlier version did not help, bypass system load on or off did not help. It opens files from the recent tool/option, it opens up additional files after you have opened up recent/option file in the same directory. Other programs are working fine when opening up files and folders so it’s not a system wide problem on my end. What is strange is that it just started happening and I did not make any changes or adjustments, also it does not matter if the laser is connected and powered up or not.

I have no idea what you mean after that part.

  1. Open is one way to open Lightburn project files.
  2. Recent Projects is another way to open the files.
  3. Double-clicking on a .LBRN2 file in Windows Explorer or File Manager is the third way.

If any of these are not working, it is a Windows issue. It could also be you are faster than the PC. I have a Dell i3 machine that sometimes hesitates for what I feel like is forever.

Showing the “open” button, now required to be pressed rather then double clicking on the folder.

Double clicking to open a file is a mouse setup function.

Can you please allow someone else to opt in for help?

All Forum members and Lightburn staff have access to this posting. I have no control over who views it. If you do not like my response, that is okay.

But expect to answer questions from them. For example, “Do you know how to get to the mouse parameter settings in Windows?” They will probably notice you are basically a Linux user like I did.

I don’t understand what you mean by this. A short screen capture video showing the problem and process you are using would be helpful. (Please not a phone video)
You cannot post videos here natively, they must be hosted elsewhere and linked to.

In the screenshot you posted above, you don’t have any file selected to open, only a folder.

What happens, if I double click the folder it will open up the folder and then LB shuts down/crashes immediately afterwards. If I just use the Open button it will not do that, and it still requires using the open button once the file is selected. From here, once that file is open, I can then open up within that directory and double click on any file within there and it opens up fine. If I need to change to a different folder/directory, I have to go back to using the Open button again as explained.

This is also an issue that happens with Windows users, of which why I already covered the previous solutions from the first post. There is not a universal mouse issue, all programs and all other files and folders open up and function just fine, and it’s only recently LB started doing this.

I read nearly all postings and do not remember reading one that basically says double-click is not working, although I could be wrong.

I think the Lightburn developers need to weigh in on this. Unfortunately, they likely do not work on weekends, but I am sure @JohnJohn will make sure they are notified.

This should help them…
