Lightburn Software not recognizing my Laser using my Mac Air

What is the best way to have Lightburn Software recognize my Xtool Laser?

  • Make sure the connection in LB is set to USB, not Bluetooth.
  • May need to add drivers if Xtool uses a 340 chip. I installed the driver because I was having issues, but tried something else. Never sure which action solved the problem.
  • If MacAir is apple chips (M1/M2) instead of Intel chips, there have been communication problems reported. I print off an older MacBook instead of my Mac mini.

Apple silicon devices are quite reliable actually - I daily drive a M1 Macbook Pro and run many lasers off it without issue. The biggest cause of communications issues is:

  • Faulty USB cables
  • Faulty USB hubs or extenders
  • Other software locking communication away from LightBurn - such as LaserGRBL or XCS. Your laser can only communicate with one software at a time.

xTool has guidance on how to import the .lbdev file for your specific machine, which will bring in all the appropriate settings.
