Pretty new using xtool d1 pro. Downloaded Lightburn to try and started to like it but then when I started framing, the laser would still start in wrong spot. Read a few posts but have not found a solution. I tell it to start in center and tried various options regarding ‘user location’ or ‘current location’ etc but still starts elsewhere. Messed up a few things and started doing various tests using various settings and still no luck and I have not found any solution on the forum so far. I had considered purchasing a license but at this time I don’t think I can actually use the software so I will not purchase without solution. May not mess around much more with it and just use the software that comes with it for free.
Maybe check this as well:
Make sure you homed correctly and understand the difference of current position and absolute coordinates.
I am not using coordinates and simply use ‘center’ and then frame it. Frame works fine but then when I actually run program it ‘shifts’ to different location and starts. Clearly poor software if framing looks ok but then starts in complete different position.
That is the same as runs okay but frame is in wrong place. This dialog might be worth reading…
You always use coordinates, a laser doesn’t work without. The question is, which coordinates you use. Please show a screenshot of the full LightBurn window, including the workspace and the laser window.
No offense, but this is by far the most advanced laser software available and the problem is usually sitting 50 cm in front of LightBurn Though, one problem can be that you are using an xTool. They have some modifications and their own software, it can be that they broke some firmware algorithms.
LightBurn always moves my laser exactly as I command it.
May very well be advanced. But if the system ‘frames’ in one place, and then starts in a completely different place something must be wrong with the software’s translation and operation as for the system I am using which ultimately means I will not pay for something that I am unable to use.
Not much more folks can offer if you don’t provide the requested troubleshooting answers.
This is how LightBurn works:
It never did for me. And I did not read any reports about such a behavior yet.
First thing you could always do is to re-install LightBurn to reduce the likelyhood of a bug / corrupted setting.
Show a screenshot of the LightBurn window and the device settings window.
Obviously, but not with Lightburn. If you do not want the problem solved, keep refusing to answer the questions of those that try to help you. Other than @Rick (I think), nobody here is getting paid to provide solutions. If you want to be angry with Lightburn, go ahead. Just be angry for the right reasons. You being exasperated is not one of those valid reasons. Lasers are not Plug & Play devices.
You have a coordinate understanding issue, which translates to a settings issue, and we are trying to help you determine what it is. If you do not like Lightburn, just don’t buy it. Just be aware thousands have.
