Lightburn under Win11 refuses to connect to Carvera

Noob here, trying to setup a new Lightburn installation with a new Carvera, via USB, so far only accomplished pulling hair due to frustration. The machine uses Smoothieware, the laptop runs Win11-Pro and the CH340 driver is installed (and was reinstalled, just in case). No USB port shutdown issues. The connection is solid: I can control the machine with the Carvera Controller using the same cable/USB/COM port. The Lightburn laser setup is using a COM specific port - same as the CC. I’ve tried all the tricks that I’ve found in the forum, even reinstalled Lightburn (although it kept track of my previous installation; unknown if significant). Any new ideas would be appreciated; between age and frustration I’m running out of hair…
