Lightburn uninstall/update

Hey. Long time linux hater/someone who struggles massively to do the simplest tasks in Linux person here. I am having the time of my life and I am unable to uninstall or update LightBurn. Been at it for an hour and a half now. I’m on Ubuntu.

I don’t know how I installed it (.run or .7Z)

I am unable to locate any “LightBurn” or “lightburn.desktop” files related to the older version.

I’ve tried automatically looking for updates in Light Burn and it comes with an SSL context error.

Using the rm -rf lines seems to do nothing

Attempted sudo apt-get --uninstall LightBurn, and my system can’t find anything named lightburn

Looked around in the /usr/local/share folders and around there to find nothing.

I have both 1.4.00 and 1.4.02 downloaded. I can type in LightBurn after pressing the windows key and it will always open the 1.4.00 version. I have to run the 1.4.02 version by doing the ./command while in the directory of the extracted .7z file. I’m very lost, and would appreciate any help in the right direction. Thank you guys.

All I want to do is get rid of V1.4.00 and be able to open the new version by searching it or clicking on a desktop icon.

Try downloading and installing the .run version. That should overwrite your current installation in-place.

With some attention to all the details in the doc:

Thank you both so much for the responses, I’ll be doing an install soon.

Why don’t you buy Windows?

:smile_cat:

I really should. My laptop bluescreened a while back and at the time my only option was to install a linux distro. First, and last time I will he using it. It is very capable and useful for people, but I do not have an inclination to use it as windows works perfectly well for me.

Thank you So much!! I got it to update the version. I really appreciate the input on the problem
