Recently I was prompted for the upgrade which I did now my circles are turning into ellipses. I checked the setting $101=80 which is what someone recommended but no luck.
Do you possibly have rotary enabled? If so, disable and retest.

Thankyou you were right the rotary was on. Odd since I don’t have that?

The ability to enable the setting is not dictated by the actual presence of the rotary, at least in terms of GRBL devices.
Enabling the rotary setting is more about dictating what commands are sent to the laser to facilitate rotary function. It’s then up to the controller on the laser to communicate with the rotary to make this happen. However, since in this case you did not have a rotary connected, the commands intended for a rotary device were instead being executed through your normal Y-motor which resulted in the perceived calibration issue.
