Lightburn update fee's up 200%

im hoping this isnt true ,200% is a bit up there been here for 3 years . wont pay , and its due today untill this is cleared…pat talking about updates fees for lightburne

I tried to translate a German saying: “Those who can read have a clear advantage.”
When you buy the LightBurn software, you can use it for a lifetime. The price includes one year of free updates. After a year, you can decide whether to stick with your current version or get updates for another year. You confirmed having read this when you made the purchase.

Personal note: Considering the price, LightBurn offers fantastic performance and—for example, here in the forum—excellent support.

Are you looking at renew license or purchase a new one?

U are right but do U know of anyone that takes time to read every page of anything??

Updates raised $10 USD to 40$ from 30$. That is hardly 200%, it’s a 33.3% increase.

Where are you getting your information?

yes well you can and are extremly rude and downbearing, ive been with lightburn for 3 or more years and , this amount may not be to the dollar but when i went to updat as i have done every year at aprox $49 the cart saidi ,YES I BLOODY READ IT $149 dollar thats 200 % higher.

not getting any help here from the peanut gallery, thats for sure .. sorted it on my own . thanks Tilman for your sarcasm , GREAT HELP

Pat

thanks jeff i did read somwhere just recently that the licence is perpetual its just the updates … hehe thanks i hope its sorted mate !

I think it would be nice if you held out your hand for an apology to @JoeSpanier. He’s part of the large peanut gallery that you offended without taking the time to think. So am I… we are not that kind of site.

Who needs to apologize to whom here?
I wrote my honest opinion, which was described as “rude” and “sarcastic”.

Referring to people who attempt to help as the peanut gallery should be offensive to all of us, IMHO.

We can do without this on the site.

:grinning_cat:

I dug into this and I feel I can answer to the misunderstanding at hand. I think I understand what you’re saying.

Most LightBurn custiomers are in the USA and so are the majority of the participants in the forum. So is @JoeSpanier … Hi Joe!

You are in Australia so you’re probably feeling the same pinch that most of the Canadians are feeling. I have Admin access so I looked in the toolbox.

LightBurn has never charged $49 USD for updates, let alone $149 USD so this was my first clue to go look at what is happening here.

We don’t charge $149 AUD for a year of Updates. You may be looking at a license Upgrade from core to Pro. The words are much too similar and I’m bucking to select a different word to reduce confabulation - This word choice problem is all on LightBurn and you’re not the only one who has been tripped up on this.

After all of that, you’re also seeing a combination of price increases (inflation), currency exchange, and LightBurn crossing sales taxation thresholds.

Inflation in the USA has been reported at between 3-4% per year.

Ref: https://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2026/consumer-prices-up-4-2-percent-over-the-year-ended-may-2026.htm

So, Joe is right, the price for a year’s worth of Updates went up $10 USD in the last three years.

If i snapshot the AUD to USD chart I can see that the Buying power of the AUD in US product has improved over 3 years. I was wrong about this. You’re better off than the Canadians.

AUD was charting at about 0.680 when you posted. Three years ago it was about .666 so you actually get more USD for your AUD. 0.680-.666/.666 = .021 or 2.1% more.

LightBurn crossed the sales taxation (GST/VAT) thresholds for several jurisdictions in the last three years. As of April 1 2026, LightBurn now collects the GST in Australia. That adds 10% to the cart.

We’re here and we’re listening.. and next time perhaps… don’t let them pull you into the gallery.
