Schade

Unfortunately this forum is ONLY in English, which is a shame.
I read that Lightburn is working on verses. 2.2 Mac Os no longer wants to support. So far it was running under Rosetta. This will no longer be possible with Mac OS 27. I still have the trial version to try and would buy it too. But when I read this, I first have to buy the first license, which is ok. But then an update to Mac Os with an M4 processor (arm64) is forced on me. Set 2020, Lightburn also knows that Apple is changing its structure to arm64. It’s now 2026, so we’ve had 6 years to adapt Lightburn to Mac. Why didn’t that happen? Or should Lightburn ONLY run on Windoof in the future? I find the development of Lightburn regrettable and absolutely not up to date. It gives the impression that users are just being ripped off.
For me now the question is until Lightburn is adapted to Mac Arm64 and until then I have to buy various updates or use other software.
Too bad

Welcome to the LB Forum.

Let’s start with the language, it’s true that the “default” language here is English, but… many people use an online translator such as Google Translate and it works quite well, even for me.

The language in the program itself is freely configurable, as you’ve probably already figured out.

Regarding your Mac OS concerns, if you use the search function on this page you will quickly find the answer to your concern. The short version is that development work has been going on for quite some time to be able to handle the upcoming MacOS.

So no negative vibes here  use the program and enjoy it. When you buy LightBurn you get all updates within a year, after which you can, but don’t have to, renew update support. Typically, there are so many new features in the course of a year that the “need and desire” to extend update support makes the decision easy.

Yes, I have to buy the update if I want to stay with Lightburn and continue working with the new ported version (2.2) under Mac OS, because from Mac OS 27 LightBurn will NOT work under 2.2 anymore!

As I wrote, if you buy today you have 365 days of updates/upgrades included during this period. If a new LB version and a version developed for new MacOS comes out during this period, you are “covered”, and it will.

I asked the same question to Lightbrn and got a friendly and qualified answer. Yes, there will be a version on ARM and it will then be included in the update. But again: you can also ask something like that in a more friendly way.

If a software company can’t (or won’t) port its current software to Mac ARM in six years, it can only be because they either want to force users to use ONLY Windows or they have absolutely no interest in the Mac interface. LB does run on Macs with an M4 chip, but in an outdated 32-bit version that even requires an emulation utility. That doesn’t exactly speak to a forward-thinking company. I can only repeat myself: perhaps there will be an update, but if I buy LB now, I’ll be forced to pay to upgrade to version 2.2. Not exactly user-friendly.

Uwe, why are you so pessimistic?, You have received the answer from the official (LB) source that they will be ready with a MacOS version on time.

Since you are still on the trail version, you have the opportunity to find a better and cheaper alternative to LightBurn, without it having cost you a nickel for the time you have been testing the program.

Good luck with that.

Viel Erfolg dabei

I’ve always been lucky and even managed to buy a license before the price skyrocketed with version 2.2. Until then, I’m making do with the old 32-bit version using Rosetta. While LB hardly pushes my Mac Mini M4 to its limits, it’s manageable. Smooth operation on a Mac M4 is something else entirely. But good things take time, and I hope the software developers manage to produce a usable version after six years. Best of luck with that.

This sounds worrying, can you please provide information on what the price will be and the source of this information?

That’s simply not right, what you’re saying. I have a Mac Studio with an M2 processor and no additional software installed, and I installed Lightburn normally, and it’s working as expected.

No one is forced to do anything by Lightburn. The terms and conditions are clearly explained to you from the start. You should just read them.

If you’ve declined updates so far, then you simply have outdated software and will have to buy a new version to be back in the normal update process.

In any case, I’m glad that there’s still software that can be bought at a reasonable price instead of these exorbitant subscriptions. I’m happy to pay €30-35 once a year for updates instead of shelling out the same amount monthly. But everyone has to decide that for themselves. If you don’t want to do that, then just leave it and look for alternatives, but please stop posting so polemically here.

Fakeinfo?

  1. Current versions: LightBurn offers full support for ARM-based processors. Just make sure to install the official download for Mac and use a version 2.2 or higher.

Where can you get version 2.2? I can’t find these anywhere. Fake info?

  1. What happens if you use an old license? If you are still running older versions (e.g. v2.1), you can still run them with Rosetta on your M4 Mac. However, Apple will stop supporting Rosetta completely in the future. If your license has already expired, you may need to update it to download the native version of LightBurn.

I use version 2.1.0.2

  1. Current versions: LightBurn offers full support for ARM-based processors. Just make sure to install the official Mac download and use version 2.2 or later.
Where can I get version 2.2? I can’t find it anywhere. Is this fake information?

The ARM versiou is currently under development and has not been assigned a release version. So yes, fake news. If it is not on the official Lightburn website, do not trust it.

  1. What happens if you use an old license? If you are still working with older versions (e.g., v2.1), you can continue to run them on your M4 Mac using Rosetta. However, Apple will eventually discontinue Rosetta support entirely. If your license has already expired, you may need to renew it to download the native version of LightBurn.
    I am using version 2.1.0.2.

When apple, or Windows, stops support for your software version, that software does not go kaput. It will continue to run. Lightnurn will also continue to run that version that has been running as well. Unfortunately, there is no warranty on being to upgrade due to the hardware limitations.

I’m sure the problem is translation based. And I’ll bet if the two of us were sitting across a kitchen table enjoying a cup of coffee with a slice of cake your words wouldn’t sound so harsh.

Translation is easy on a chrome or firefox based webbrowser.

Understand, Lightburn is an American based software which lets everyone choose thier preferred language. This is a english based forum and the goal here is to get along while trying to help each other.

LightBurn Version 2.2.00 is currently in Beta Testing and is not available to the Public.

When LightBurn 2.2 reaches Release Candidate, you are welcome to use it prior to Release.

Well said Mikey.

Also well said. Thanks Ron.
