Lightburn while engraving shuts down and informs it's not responding

Over the past few weeks, I have while using LIGHTBURN I’ll be completing an engraving job and while I set you for the next job LIGHTBURN then goes in to shut down and the dreaded box appears stating Not Respondng, I then have to shut down LIGHTBURN and reboot. Has anyone had the same issue and what can I do to prevent this happening?

This is the dreaded USB communication issue. Just because it worked for a period of time is no warranty it will work tomorrow.

  1. USB cable too long.
  2. USB cable is low quality.
  3. loose USB connector.
  4. USB cable has intermittent connection.

Start with #2 first. Replace the cable, max 10 feet, with a quality shielded cable with a ferrite supressor (big knot) on it. In other words, look for an expensive cable to purchase. Be sure to match connector types on both ends.

In the meantime, you might try replacing it with what looks like a better quality cable if you have one..
