Lightburn will not operate ORTUR 2

@Laserbeam, I have done this for you.

To clarify issues,
Should be the latest version of lightburn just downloaded a week ago. When installed and communication was established with Ortur laser lightburn was operating the Ortur master laser 2 with no issues for appox 2 days of operation then attemped to drive machine and would not work console is saying Grbl 1.1[$’ for help] [MSG:’$H’l’$X’ to unlock] [MSG:Caution: Unlocked] Ok. The frimware is the latest version 1.34 for the Ortur laser master 2, which is also a week old. Operated by Dell 64bit Windows 10 Pro.

The only device settings that were changed was to enable the laser fire function, and setting changed from mm/min to Inches /min, and it seems this is when the issues started. Also when moving the pointer across the screen to the start button it seems that X and Y measurement are out of the machines operatioal range?

Type $$ in the console and press enter. Your controller will respond with firmware settings - copy those here so we can see them. Also, type $# into the console and press enter, then copy the output here too.

Please see the info as requested.

The $$ and $# outputs looks correct.

  1. things …
#1 … "when moving the pointer across the screen to the start button it seems that X and Y measurement are out of the machines operatioal range?
" This is normal. When zoomed out, the X&Y numbers can be extreme. They are correct, but are in virtual space when your view is zoom out a lot.

#2 …“attemped to drive machine and would not work” … i know this is silly, but the USB will power the controller, so you can communicate with it. You get lights and such. BUT if the POWER to the controller is unplugged, or off, no movement! … Is this your case? … Confirm POWER is being supplied to the controller along with the USB.

I verified that power was being supplied to the controller. also verified that USB cable is plugged in to controller port. And I was able to control the machine with laser GRBL to verify that all functions were operating.

Just checked lightburn with a different computer and it will drive the X, Y and fire the laser but will not burn the image?

“fire the laser but will not burn the image?” ??? What speed and power settings?

speed 900 mm/min Z speed 1806.

“speed 900 mm/min” I understand, What is “Z speed 1806”.???

I was looking for something like “speed 900, power at 80%”

I don’t do GRBL, and I bet that is GRBL… right? what percentage does that equal? isn’t “Z” upwards???

No It is with lightburn , I was able to go to cuts/layers and change the Sdp/Pwr and now the laser is creating an image. Could I deactivate the lightburn from my primary computer and reinstall to see if it would go back to how it was operating when i first installed it?

Paul, I am NOT a windows person, so I suggest you ask someone else anything about windows. I am guessing that there is a preferences file, somewhere, that can be trashed and then rebuilt by windows.

I suggest you either message “oz” or start a new thread asking how to remove and reinstall LightBurn on a windows system. Glad things are progressing. Kerry

Kerry,
I appreciate the effort in trying resolve issue. “OZ”??

Thanks
Paul

That should be $30=1000.

Can you explain what this means?

Hi, Oz
That was my initial thought about the X,Y axis travel I don’t think that’s the issue. The issues I am presently having is when pressing the the start button to begin a burn there is no action from the laser. If I select move and manually move from the home position I than can select start and the machine will operate and go trough the motions of burning the image and the laser will emit blue light but not burn image.

With laser setting at Speed (in/min) 909 & Power max 100%
What does $30=1000 control?

The exact thing you’re describing, more or less. It’s explained here:

(The $30 parameter controls the spindle-max value)

Is there a setting I can change in machine settings to fix this issue?

Which issue is “this issue” again?

When giving the start command in lightburn will not operate the machine.
