Lightburn will not recognize my Laguna Smartshop Laser EX

We bought a Laguna Smartshop Laser EX from the previous homeowners when we purchased their property. It worked fine when they demonstrated it for us. We are using another computer and the latest version of the Lightburn Software but it won’t recognize the laser when I attempt to upload it. I input the information manually but it still states “No device found” and “Disconnected” even though I have the USB plugged in and the machine powered up (the laser goes to its home axis and returns to center). Any help to get the software to recognize the laser?

Have you installed the FTDI driver? If not, reinstall LightBurn and select FTDI driver installation at the end of the install.

Note that you can simply run the LightBurn installer on top of your current installation.

Thanks for the advice. I reinstalled the software and ensured to select FTDI again but still no luck.

Can you check in Device Manager and confirm that you’re getting a Port created for the laser when plugged in and turned on? If you do, check the COM port assigned to the laser.

Make sure that COM port is showing in LightBurn in the Laser window.

Are you using the DSP version or GCODE version of Lightburn? After a quick search, it looks like those machines use a DSP controller and would require the DSP license.
