LightBurn will not respond is all I see! Managed to run 2 small tasks on my new Thunder 35/80; one during the 1 hour free training and one more small, 2 layer nametag. Now all I get is LightBurn not responding no mater how many times i restart it, check connections, etc. Thunder Support was not able to help me. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. This is my last resort before someone gets one heck of a deal on a new Thunder laser.
I’ll give you $100 for it.
But seriously, is this an error message you’re getting? Can you provide some more detail as to what it is or isn’t doing and under what circumstances? Maybe share a screenshot of your Lightburn showing your Cuts/Layers panel and the Laser panel with the error message showing.
Is it possible to connect the Ruida to your lan and send your commands over Ethernet…?
USB was such a headache that I ditched it within a week…
You can also pick up a cheap wifi router from Amazon for around $20 USD or the Lightburn bridge for a bit more…
I ran this router for a year, then the bridge, now I’m back to using this as a bridge… A thunderstorm soaked my PI … it wasn’t compatible with rain.
If you’re in Arizona, I’ll come take that problematic Thunder off your hands…
Missing a couple of zeros. Just kidding. So beyond frustrated. let me get into the program, take some picks and ill get right back to you
My son is remotely trying to check out some stuff on the computer to see if some drivers aren’t installed. I’ll get back on LightBurn as soon as he is done and get this shots. Basically what’s happening is every time I create and send something to my laser, that’s when it will stop responding and the blur loading wheel will just sit there and spin. I will close the program, try to get back into lightburn and it will not respond. The loading wheel will just sit on the lightburn icon and spin. In order to get back into lightburn I either have to restart my computer or unplug and plug back in the usb to the laser. Then I can get back into lightburn but it’s one big, vicious circle.
I would highly recommend ditching USB and going Ethernet if at all possible.
How old is your computer? Window 7, 10 or 11? Have tried switchung usb ports on pc. I have been connected to USB frkm pc to laser no issues. I have a thunder 51-130.
figured it out. I keep my laser in a 16 by 20 sub building behind my house. my computer however is inside my house to keep it in the AC. I was running a splitter underground between the 2. I brought the computer outback to the laser and hooked up directly and it worked. Lesson learned, no splitters!. I am going to purchase a longer USB and see if that works. If not, then the computer stays in the shed. Thank you for taking the time to try and help. Much appreciated.
Chris
Glad you got it figured out. I see conflicting information regarding the maximum length for USB so keep that in mind.
Another benefit to going Ethernet over LAN, not direct connection, is you can have multiple computers connected to your laser without switching cables around. I have a PC laptop connected to my Diode laser which sits next to my C02 and it’s connected to the C02 via LAN as well as my Mac in my office which is connected to my C02 over LAN.
Bonus: USB cables from the usual sources tend to be on the low side of the QC range, so whatever the Official Spec might say about the maximum length will be wildly optimistic.
USB cables have specific lengths… 1.0 USB has a maximum specified length of 3m, 2.0 usb 5m after that they specify the length based on performance, i.e. bandwidth.
Some usb 4.0, because of performance issues, have maximum length of around 1m or less, in exchange for a large bandwidth.
Even though they say 5m for a 2.0, I rarely see that kind of performance, most suggest 3m maximum length …
If you want dependability use the software and hardware that has been pounded on by everyone… Ethernet
