I sidelined my K40 quite a while ago - its bog standard as delivered to me way back in 2016 and has done me great service. However until I stopped using it, I had moved from the software provided with it to K40Whisperer, but that is very limited as to repeatability of cutting in the same place. Now however I have quite a lot of clear acrylic to cut, where I need to place the objects at the same coordinates to carry out actions, something I can’t accomplish with whisperer. I have Lightburn which I use with my Longer Ray10watt which won’t cut the clear acrylic. Can I use the lIghtburn software with the original K40 M2 nano board, or does it have to be upgraded to something else?
Hello Brian
If the K40 has a Nano board - it will not be Compatible with LightBurn.
A k40+ board (Grbl replacement) would be required.
Thanks for the reply, saved me from connecting it up and trying! I guess I’ll have to figure out how to do it with whisperer - possibly make a jig of some kind to hold the parts and zero the laser head before each job.
We could be triple sure, if you could take a picture of the controller?
