Lightburn won't move to Origin anymore!

Not sure what I’ve done, but in the past, when I’m cutting a leather patch out of a sheet of leather, I’d draw a 3x2 box, put my design in the middle of the work space, Home the laser, then click Go To Origin. The laser would move to where it thought the “green origin square” was in the design. I’d then Fire the laser and then position the leather where I wanted it to start.

Now, when I click Go To Origin, it moves to the same spot and few inches out in the work surface and will longer go to the Green Origin Square.

What have I done to cause this? See attached of my design in the workspace and my settings.

Thanks!

The green dot is the origin position on your design. The origin position on your workbed is a position set by you. Place your workpiece where you want it, in the Move tab use the arrow keys to move your laser head to the corresponding point on your work bed and press the Set Origin button. This is your user origin position. It can be changed at any time by moving the laser with the arrow keys and pressing the set origin button.

Thank you Tim!
Follow up question. When I was printing before as per my description, it would get about 3/4 way through and just stop - now errors messages. The Busy timer would keep on ticking though and there was nothing I could do to get it going again. Had to Stop it, and then I’d get control of the laser again. Now that I’m setting the Origin correctly per your video, will that stop occurring? I assume that was happening because the laser thought it was going “out of bounds” or something.

Thanks again!!
Mike

Hi again Tim. Another question: I was finally able to get this pact etched and cut - thank you again. I’m doing my job in two stages - one for the etching and then one for the cutting. I turn the cutting off at first because I have my air assist off for the etching, and then turn it, and my external pump on before doing the cutting. I noticed now though that when the first part is done, the laser returns to home instead of the Origin like it use to. I then have to remember to click on the Go to Origin button again before starting the cutting. Can I change that so that when it’s done it goes back the Origin?

No way of knowing why it stopped without an error message. Could be out of bounds, could be communication issue.

You don’t need to go to the origin before performing the cutting. Lightburn will move the laser where it needs to based on the origin setting when you click start.

You can set a finish position in Device settings. That however is not return to origin. I usually set mine to go to the back edge so the gantry is out of the way. The screenshot shows it going to home. The computer I’m on is my design computer and not connected to the laser. I believe if you leave this unchecked it stays at the finish position.
