LIghtburn won't run on XTool D1 Pro

I’m testing Lightburn on my new Xtool. The Xtool run just fine with the XCS program. I’ve installed Lightburn and the additional file., several times. I’ve found older posts about the system being paused or busy. I’ve gone to the console to see if i get the welcome greeting. All I get are lines of scrolling lines of code. Any ideas

In XCS, check for firmware updates. You may need to flip the upgrade switch on the controller board to be able to do the update so watch out for it.

Once upgraded, try reconnecting in LightBurn. Make sure that the correct port is selected in Laser window.

I’ve tried that. No Joy

What happened when you tried it? What version of the firmware are you on now?

Can you cut/paste the Console message that you see?

Also, please provide the following:

  1. full screenshot of LightBurn with Laser window in view
  2. screenshot of Edit->Device Settings

I just ran a firmware update v40.31.006.01
When I click update the loading icon appears runs for about a minute then goes away. Never got a confirmation of the upload. Ran it with the upload switch in both positions, just in case. No difference

Sure hope you can help. Lightburn has so much more to offer then XCS

If you actually have a D1 Pro, your settings are wrong. Unless you have the 20W or 40W, your working size should be 430x400, uncheck laser offset if you’re not using the crosshair (should be X-16 if you are), there’s no Z control, so disable Z Control, uncheck auto home at startup, your S-Value should be 1000, and Baud should be 230,400.

All of these should have been set if you had imported the config file provided by XTool for Lightburn. Here’s my settings for my XTool D1 Pro 10W;

Edit: I suggest deleting that profile and following the Xtool guide;

Okay, have performed the last suggested fix.
Still doesn’t work the console screen is still scrolling lines of code

Can you post screenshots of Edit->Device Settings again as well Console?

It seemed most likely that baud rate was the key reason for the garbled communication.

I’ve checked settings as suggested.
The XTool is a D Pro W
I shut everything off and restarted. the photo is the console after resart

It looks like the firmware update was incomplete, looks like it’s crashing on boot and rebooting. Try updating the firmware again.

I’m not familiar with the W variant. Is this a new model?

Can you confirm that you used the .lbdev file provided by xTool?

Your settings don’t match what would be expected if you had.

The console shows that LightBurn is now communicating with the xTool, however the controller is rebooting. The baud rate likely fixed the communication issue. The rebooting is typically related to a firmware issue. Not sure what the currently recommended firmware is to use on LightBurn, however.

I’d suggest fixing the device profile and trying again. It looks like to me you’re not using GRBL profile.

The latest works well with it.

It was supposed to be 20W. I did use that file

In messing with this issue. I have discovered a possible problem. I went to manually move the laser module and it doesn’t move. Both the X and Y axis motors are locked up. So off to XTOOL I now go.

Thanks for all your input and hopefully XTOOL will provide answers

I think you’re not switching to the correct device in that case or have not deleted the old device. Make sure in the Laser window that you’re picking the correct laser.

It didn’t seem like you were getting complete connection. You won’t be able to jog the laser without that.

one of those pics (the one with the weird characters) reminds me of an incorrect baud rate being selected. have a look at that?

When you state can not move manually is that with lightburn or with your hand - if the later then there is something wrong with the stepper motors,
Also per XTool you should not upgrade the firmware on the tool using lightburn - instead use the XTool Creative Space (XCS).
I would test with XCS as the next step to see if the tool works with it first.

It sounds like you have a problem with the motors. If they will not move when it is off.

One other thing. I had a problem with my Xtool Pro 20w at first using lightburn. I went back and removed the Xtool from lightburn. Then went back and reloaded it again. All of the little bugs went away. I did see where it would not automatically identify the correct port. Sometimes it does and sometimes it does not. On screen it looks like it should work but will send you a message that it can not communicate.
