Any ideas on whats causing these lines? I am using a Ortur LM3 with a 10 watt laser.
Thanks!
Took a few to convert, I usually use mm…
I don’t see anything blaring. However, it might be related to the original work pixel or dpi and the interval you’ve chosen.
Sometimes you can get a Moiré pattern or effect occurring…
Run this through preview and zoom in. See if you see anything suspicious.
I’d suggest a short run at about 318 dpi. You should see a change pretty quickly considering how many lines you’re getting.

Also could help by zooming in on the preview window to see if the artifacts show up there.
If so, points to the LPI setting may be too aggressive.
I think @jkwilborn is correct with the Moiré idea. A 10w diode (I have 2 of them) is not capable of more than 318 DPI. Your 342 DPI means you will be double burning some lines, but not at a nice simple fraction (0.9298:1 ratio). That means the lines will go in and out of synchronization.
Thanks to all of you. I will cut down the DPI and check the LPI also and let you know the results.
They are basically the same thing in Lightburn. I think you are seeing DPI because you are in inches mode.
Correction: It is not related to the measurement mode.
Thanks, always learning something.
The dpi is directly related to interval
25.4 / 0.10 (interval) is the dpi, in this case 254.
You can enter either in Lightburn and it will compute the other.

Just wanted to let you all know that the problem with the lines is only on this Ortur LM3. I have another LM3 with a 10 watt and the coaster came out perfect. Still don’t know what is causing the problem the other LM3. But, I’m going to pull the laser off the problem LM3 and test it on my other machine. Also, the settings on the “working” setup are the same as the other one.
It’s more of a mechanical problem, check the POM wheels, the belts, and the dirt.
Thank you. I’ll check that all out as I need to have both machines up and running.
