Hi everyone, my first time posting here. I can’t seem to work out why I keep getting these grid lines through my engravings. This happens on everything not just 3d sliced images

Other than the lines, they both look good, especially the dog.

Have you tried an interval change?

What interval are you using?

Is it 256 passes?

Thanks for the reply.
It doesn’t seem like the interval changes are helping it.
This was 256 passes with 0.025mm interval
Everything looks perfect besides these grid lines that show up through the engravings

There are a number of people that have fiber machines here, so hang in there for some other to chime in.

I know for some of mine, I had to use a low cost air assist to blow off the debris.

The needed air assist, was on a coin, that didn’t really show a line, like yours.

Hang in there…

Thanks very much.
I’m trying some different line spacings now to see if it makes it better or worse. It’s funny how it’s always a perfect looking grid.

Not saying this is the issue, but in the computer it’s all digital and there are certain values that don’t translate well or cause the machine to miss a step.

This can occur if you’re stepping at an interval the ends up loosing what we’d call a step… This can leave various strange types of patterns.

When the interval doesn’t add up to the number of steps the device can move, it will skip a line.

The preview tool is your friend… how does it look there? Preview with 3dslice can be tricky…

This seems to happen on all engraves too not just 3d. I’ve zoomed in on the previews and to the best of my knowledge I can’t see anything a miss.
Even if I fill a square I can see light grid patterns through it.

Try adjusting the DPI a bit.
As Jack mentioned, this could simply be an issue with resolution scaling.
If you engrave a simple square, do you also see this grid?
