Linux 1.7.01RC1/2/3 fails to run on 2 different Mint systems

Hi All,

It’s the first time I have had issues with LightBurn on either of these 2 Linux Mint systems. Everything has worked fine thru 1.6.04. When installing any of the 1.7 releases I can see the following when I execute from the command line.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Greg

Linux version 5.4.0-196-generic (buildd@lcy02-amd64-031) (gcc version 9.4.0 (Ubuntu 9.4.0-1ubuntu1~20.04.2)) #216-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 29 13:26:53 UTC 2024

Linux is no longer relevant for LightBurn, even though it’s nominally supported on two Ubuntu LTS versions and nothing else.

I’ve had some success running the 1.7 AppImage lumps on Manjaro, although the window layout resets itself erratically on two different boxes.

Are you using the .run or app image?
Mint has notoriously used a different glibc than the Unbuntu it is based on causing issues. App image should fix that though.

But, officially we support Ubuntu, which Mint (though based on it) is not.

The one detail I was going to add and forgot… its the .run image.

It’s been running so well up until now… I was hoping to get that last release on the system and hold out for a while to buy a MAC. I have re-purposed some old laptops that might not appreciate a windows image

Thanks for the quick response. Love the SW!

Greg

Hi Adam,

Same thing when I try to run the AppImage. its complaining about the missing lib versions.

It’s not urgent so don’t let me pull you through a knothole on this. If there are easy things I can do on my end that might help, I’ll give it a try… again, no rush at this point.

1.6.04 seems to have everything I need right now. (except I found a bug warping images).

Have a great weekend!
Thanks,
Greg

Maybe try Mint 22 instead of the 20.3 and see if that helps. IIRC LightBurn has targeted Ubuntu 24.04 with their final release but for a while now on a dev machine I do AI/CUDA stuff on which I’ve stuck at Ubuntu 18.04, I’ve run LightBurn through a docker container and one is a Mint version since I was doing some testing for a user a while back. I just loaded the container and run 1.7.01 without issues.

my docker.file is below if that helps show you the packages I’d loaded.

FROM linuxmintd/mint22-amd64
RUN apt update
RUN apt install -y libusb-1.0-0
RUN apt install -y libpulse-dev
