Hello
I’m new to Lightburn and I’m loving it. The only problem that I have is that Linux support was dropped and I’m not gonna setup a dual boot or separate computer just for Lightburn. I’m satisfied with the latest Linux version for my hobby stuff so I’m kinda leaning toward buying the license but will it work on this version?
P.S. : Is there a discount for the older version
If you buy the most current version, which is 2.0.02 for Windows and Mac and 1.7.08 for Linux, you will be able to use LB on 3 computers, i.e. if you later want to install LightBurn, you can use the version that is current and newest, within a year. After that, you can still download and install LB, but “only” the version that is developed within your current license/update year. If you stay on the Linux version, it is only a one-time payment because development for Linux has been discontinued.
I can’t imagine that you can get a discount on the price for older versions, but asking the service department from LB about it doesn’t cost anything.
Aaaa ok didn’t know that if. So it is best to buy in january. Well yeah for me it doesn’t matter since i’m on Linux.
Ok thank you for the info
No, it’s 1 year from date of purchase, not calendar year.
Tim is right, it is not a calendar year, but applies from the day you buy LightBurn.
btw, I have a linux computer to run my laser with, but I design and construct on the latest LB version on my Mac. So far it works great.
Enjoy your laser and LightBurn.
What laser do you have?
…if you mean me, I currently have a 60Watt CO2 OMT laser and a 5.5 Watt diode laser (which I primarily use to provide shelter for spiders )
Thank you all for your answers. I’m going to buy the license, I have done some testing on my DIY machine running FluidNC and it works great via Wifi.
Shame the support got dropped but I get it it l is expensive.
One more thing. I need the Core type license right?
Correct. The Pro version of the license key is only needed for DSP- and Galvo lasers.
The Core version is what you need for your FluidNC controller.
Let us know, if you run into any roadblocks! I’m curious to see the machine you’ve built, if you care to share.
As soon as I finish it i can share everything. But overall it is nothing special. I retrofited an old Ender 3D printer and I added a 10W blue laser. I also added a BlTouch probe and wrote a macro for probing, because there is not native support. I connect to the printer via wifi. Its a small laser intended for small stuff (birthday emblems, cake topers and such)
It’s actually 1 year from activation
Yeah somebody told me
