I made a mistake here. I’m upgrading from one linux box to another and need help retrieving my settings. I removed the license from the old machine, installed LightBurn on the new machine, added license, and realized I didn’t have a good back up of settings, laser, shortcuts, etc.
I went back to the old machine to export everything but LB complained that my trial has ended then closed as soon as I clicked away.
Is there a way to export my settings without using up one of my 10 license swaps? I could probably rebuild from scratch but there were a bunch of customizations I did on the old machine I’d rather not lose.
I’d check LightBurn’s automatic preference backups before rebuilding everything. It keeps previous settings backups, and the User Bundle option can also move settings, hotkeys, devices, and libraries to the new machine.
An LB license is valid on up to 3 computers, so there should be no problem reactivating your Linuxbox and retrieving the old settings. Besides that, you should be able to find your LB preference in the Linux/preferences directory.
You can also do a manual search for files with extension:
prefs.ini and .lbprefs for LightBurn prefs hotkeys.json for hotkeys .lbcm for Camera calibration .lbimg for adjust image presets .clb for Material library .lbart for Art library
For your laser these are the basic ones. When you found them copy to the same place in the new install.
Manually moving over the prefs folder, as Parsec explained should definitely work.
But you can also go ahead and activate the old machine again to use the User Bundle feature
In case you ever max out the 10 deactivations limit, send an email to support@lightburnsoftware.com, and we’ll increase the limit for you.
Or: You could send us the trial ID from the old computer, and we add a couple days to it. (Mention this thread in the email if you decide to go that route.)
