Hi All - just bought my first engraver and just bought the software - its amazing software - devastated to read about the dropping of support for Linux. Just wanted to post to say this. Such a shame, as a long time ex-user of windows I have no plans to return to it. I wish we could see more Linux adoption of great quality software like this and not less!
It was a difficult decision for the Dev team. I noticed a deep sense of loss when the decision was made. There are several Linux Devotees here. I feel that they’re still moving through the grief.
Linux versions will continue through all 1.7.x versions and 1.8.00 will be the first departure with no Linux version.
With a purchase of a license, any version of LightBurn released within the following year will continue to work indefinitely. Updates are optional. Your access to those licensed versions will not expire.
You’ll find countless contributions from community members on the forum to help get LightBurn running on your Linux systems. Please, by all means, get your Linux version running with the Free Trial.
You’ll also find that there’s an Extend Trial button in the Help menu if 30 days isn’t enough time to sort through the implementation.
Thanks for the reply - I bought already - in fact as soon as I had my engraver delivered I bought the software and I LOVE IT. I work as a distributor of wide format graphics equipment and use RIP software all the time. This laser I bought for hobby work and appreciate just how good lightburn is. I also only use Linux at home which is the great shame once it goes.
