Linux version 1.6.03 fails to update to version 1.7.08

I do my design work in windows 10 then download the file to my Linux Mint laptop that runs my laser. But recently, those files failed to load on the laptop because it was produced on a more recent version, and that I need to upgrade my Linux version. So, I download version 1.7.08 using my Linux laptop and tried to do the update. But, Lightburn complains that the update file has unrecognizable characters in it and the update fails.

Has anyone seen this issue before?

Thanks for the help
Bill

Strange I get that message and just click yes. What win 10 version are you running?

Sorry I meant Lightburn version on your win 10.

LOL… I should have figured that! Anyway, the Lightburn app is version 2.0.02

V 2 is new and suffering from problems. Did this problem occur when you updated?
As I said I get that message and just click continue and it loads.
As for 1.7.08 I think that still supports linux, so don’t know the problem there.
Surprised no one else has chimed in on this yet.

Is this the info message you are seeing?

This is a notice, that we can’t guarantee backwards-compatibility with files created on newer versions, but @Dskall is correct, it usually still opens when you select “Yes” there.

Version 1.7.08 is the last version that runs on Linux. (Since you were previously using version 1.6.03, it should be possible to upgrade to 1.7.08 on your Mint installation)

Out of curiosity, can you post the terminal output of this command, so that we can see the Linux release you are using?
lsb_release -a

Can you show a screenshot of the error you mentioned here?

Are you using the .AppImage version from here? https://release.lightburnsoftware.com/LightBurn/Release/LightBurn-v1.7.08/LightBurn-Linux64-v1.7.08.AppImage
