Live Framing (F1) stays active after job finishes – can it auto-stop?

Hi everyone,

I’m using LightBurn with a fiber / JCZ galvo machine and had a question (or feature request) around Live Framing behavior.

Current workflow:

  • Press F1 to start Live Framing (red dot outline).
  • Start engraving.
  • Job finishes successfully.
  • Live Framing remains active and the red dot continues running until I manually press ESC.

What I’m trying to achieve:

  • When the engraving job finishes, I’d like Live Framing to automatically stop / close, so the red dot turns off and the machine returns to an idle/ready state.

I’ve checked:

  • Device Settings
  • Galvo / IO settings
  • Live Framing window options
  • LightBurn documentation

I couldn’t find any setting or documented behavior that links job completion to stopping Live Framing.

Questions:

  1. Is there currently any way to auto-stop Live Framing when a job completes?
  2. If not, would this be possible as a feature request?
    For example:
  • “Stop Live Framing on job completion”
  • or “Auto-disable framing when marking ends”

This would be really helpful in production environments to avoid the red light on the laser staying on after jobs finish.

Thanks in advance :folded_hands:

My galvo the framing laser stays on until canceled also, unless I close the window during engraving.

I’m also interested in that. Sometimes you do the job and forget about closing the framing window. It results in Galvo head working for a long time and I think this is not a good thing for the scanning head lifespan.
