I am extremely frustrated.
I purchased the Longer Ray5 10W and they suggested downloading your free trial.
While I was waiting for my laser printer, I watched many videos on how to use your program. Before I got my laser I purchase your program off your internet. I downloaded it onto my MacBook Air laptop. I purchased the GCode license Key.
When I received my Laser, I put it together, followed the instruction manual on making sure the laser was at the right height and had it engrave a pre-downloaded image. It worked beautifully.
I then opened up LightBurn and open up my saved drawing of a horse that I had downloaded from the internet and then traced. I put in the recommended power and speed settings that Longer gave me on their info sheet. I framed the image on my board and then hit start. The laser printer made the motions that it was doing something but the laser did not turn on. I adjusted the power level and it still would not work.
I went back to one of the pre-downloaded image and the laser worked. I watched more videos thinking that I must not have a setting on. I re-read the instruction manual on getting my laser a device in lightburn. Tried again and the same thing happened. The laser would make the motions but the Laser it self would not turn on.
Now I’m frustrated. Have spent many hours watching videos and looking at your website. Looked over the Longer Ray5 manual and nothing is telling me that I am doing something wrong.
So, I then download your free trial on my husband computer. It is a PC Laptop with windows. Same image, Same settings. It still will not work. The laser moves but the laser does not turn on.
I then download a free version of lasergrbl v4.6.3 onto my husbands windows computer and the laser works! It engraves the horse image.
So I am really baffled. I have looked over your forum and I can not find another post with this problem.
Can you please help me figure out why lightburn is not communicating to my laser.
Hello
Hopefully I did the #4 correctly. I typed in the commands but I did not see a change. I added as the last attachment. Let me know if I need to do something different.
For the Device Settings instead of pushing the “Devices” button in Laser window, can you push the wrench and screwdriver icon on the toolbar?
As you suspected, step 4 didn’t come out quite right. Can you try again? Enter or cut/paste each line one at a time. It should immediately result in output if the machine is connected.
As for what I can see so far from what you’ve sent…
When you say you’re not getting any light from when running jobs from LightBurn, does this mean you see no light at all? Or you see a light but it’s not engraving?
I see commands that indicate the light should be firing.
I also notice that you’re using mm/s for your units. The values you’ve entered are typical for mm/min units. This is resulting in speeds that are 60x faster than typical speeds. This would prevent engravings from happening properly but would not keep the laser from firing.
There may be a few more things going on but should be able to clarify them when you send the other artifacts.
