The laser engraves fine with preloaded images on SanDisk card. Lightburn makes the laser head move in the correct pattern but it will NOT engrave. Any ideas?
Any chance that in EDIT → settings
Your lightburn is set to mm/sec
And therefore you have machine moving TOO fast
make sure also your machine is set to GRBL and not GRBL M3 or LPC
and in Edit → device settings your Svalue MAX is 1000
it is set to Inch/mins and svalue at 1,000 where do i find GRBL settings?
in console type
$$
press enter
Could you post a full screenshot of your lightburn showing also layers and laser panel? with the project open
I entered $$ in the console and pressed enter i do not see that it did anything but i am a newbie let me get a screenshot btw I appreciate your help
you need to be connected to the machine
make sure you have the right com port connected
It should output a lot of data, but you must be also sure you are scrolled to the bottom
It is attached and the correct com is set. the laser head moves in the correct pattern, it looks like the laser is firing but does not engrave
If it does engrave via GCode it has to be something in your settings.
if you can post your screenshots that would help
try this for me
a) Window menu → reset layout to defaults
b) right hand side, click the layers
c) double click the layer and take a screenshot
also notice currently you are NOT connected
Also you are loaded with yoru Laser Beam, is that the Longer profile?
Ok so note
speed 3000 inch a min is HUGELY fast
Also, you are only running at 35% power, so too fast too little power
Try… i really have no inch/min ref by say 1000 75% power
And that should do it
I recommend absolute coordinates too from the Start From
give me a moment
3000 in/m is 76,200 mm/min.
With a 10w laser you need to switch to mm/m then try 1000 75%.
I am fumbling around new to application almost there I think
Take your time!
its open
but you must have a design or there wotn be any object to assign to a layer
No object = No layer
Maybe try this
Download this file to your desktop
OPEN it in lightburn
RUn it in cardboard
Dot Test with Angle.lbrn (46.3 KB)
