Looking for a recommendation on a new laser frame

I have a laser that I like a lot, what I’m lacking is mechanical limit switches and Z axis
control on the frame. I’d prefer to buy a frame with those features minus the laser, or the parts to add to my current frame, but it probably makes more sense to just purchase a new setup with those features included. I currently have a longer 5w frame that I swapped in a lasertree K30. Some of the things I’m doing require manually moving the Z position and it usually shifts a little when manually raising the laser head for a second pass on the project.
Any help would be appreciated !

Does this mean it moves in X or Y? If so, and you have access to the GRBL parameters, set $1=255. This keeps power on the motors so you won’t bump it out of position.

The new Neje machines look pretty good to me, but that will also get you a laser module.

Adding the parts to make yours do what you want sounds expensive, but I haven’t explored it.

You could do an Openbuilds Acro and keep your laser module, but your current controller may not support Z power. They do have their “black box” controller. Again, not cheap.

Jtech Photonics has a really nice motion system you can get without the laser, but last I checked it was around a grand.

Yes, that’s correct, the x y sometimes will move a bit when I manually raise the z height of the laser. The K30 is a little heavy for that longer frame, I had to reinforce the frame a little to support the weight
of the laser to keep it from tilting forward. I can access the GRBL commands and will try that, Great idea thank you !

Thanks Chris ! I really like the Jtech system and it’s available without the laser, it appears to be out of stock though based on the website, I’m going to reach out to them on Monday to check availability. I’m not opposed to building one from scratch. I had at one time found a spot on Amazon that if I recall had all the parts available individually so I may look into that if the Jtech is on a long lead time.
I like the looks of the NEJE 4 Max and with the Amazon coupon it looks like a heck of a deal,it has the Z control but I didn’t see limit switches but it’s a definite option ! Thanks for the info !

Limit Switch: Yes, both XYZ - - - off the Amazon site.

Yes ! you are correct ! I do see it, I did not see it in the body description, but you are right it does list it down in the specifications ! I’m going to order it, it looks like everything I’m looking for including a larger bed. Thanks for following up !

I took a good look and it looks like a well constructed machine. Enjoy!
