Losing ethernet connection if WIFI settings are on on my Mac (FIXED)

Hello guys. New Thunder Laser user there. Have problems with connecting my Nova 24 with Mac mini M1 and Lightburn via ethernet connection. Connecting Mac and laser directly via Ethernet cable.

I managed to connect the laser and mac but it’s only working when WIFI is off. If the WIFi setting is on in my Mac then there is no connection between the computer and the laser.

Any suggestion?

Since you are connecting the Mac to the controller directly there will be no automatic IP assignment. That means you need to configure the IP address of the ethernet interface on the Mac manually. Ruida doesn’t support dynamic IP assignment in any case so will need to configure that manually as well.

Have you assigned IP addresses to the Ruida and Mac ethernet interface?

If so, what are those addresses and subnet?

Also, what is the IP assigned to your wifi?

Thank you for your answer. I configured the IP address for my ethernet port manually. At the moment:

My Ethernet IP: 169.254.102.187 Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

Laser and lightburn setup with 169.254.102.157.

WIFI address: 192.168.8.100.

As I said. When the WIFI is off I Lightburn shows that the laser is ready. If WIFI is on - disconnect.

Have you tried setting everything up on the same subnet? If your ethernet is 169.254.x.x and a mask of 255.255.0.0 I’d put the Wifi at 169.254.x.x subnet.

To be clear, you manually chose that IP? Or the Mac defaulted to that IP after some time?

In any case, change your subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.

There’s no need to change your wifi address. In fact, there’s a chance for a collision since you’re manually configuring IPs for ethernet.

WOW. It works. Thanks. I changed Subnet Mask from 255.255.0.0 to 255.255.255.0 and now everything is OK. I can use laser via ethernet cable and have internet via wifi on my computer at the same time.

Thank you for your help.
