Lost font preview after new font download

I downloaded new fonts onto my computer yesterday…not unlike every other time with no issues. Immediately after that, I could no longer see what the fonts look like in the drop-down box of Lightburn. They all just show in a basic block font style. (They do show correctly in the workspace after selected - just not in the font selection drop-down) I have used Lightburn for almost 2 years and have not had this issue after downloading fonts before. It is cumbersome not to have that preview after being used to it. :frowning: I restarted my computer - no change…I upgraded to version 1.4.01 - no change. Please help!!!

Nancy, I saw your post on Facebook and have been looking for an answer for you as well… haven’t found one yet (or I would have replied there), but I wanted to ask… do your fonts show in other programs as they should (Word, etc…)? Is it only Lightburn that is no longer showing font previews?

I’m just trying to help figure out if this is truly a Lightburn problem or perhaps a Windows issue.

Jim

Thanks Jim!! Yes, I have verified that they are still working in other programs (and showing the “preview” in the selection.) It seems to be only affecting Lightburn. I did see someone else post on here a month ago with the same issue. (no fix was mentioned for them as well.)

Ah… well then… I’ll stop searching down the “Windows” rabbit hole, and step aside.
Someone here with better Lightburn knowledge than I, will have to look at this.
I am however as curious as you for a solution.

Jim

I haven’t had this issue…yet, I wonder if its a memory issue and not showing due to no free memory given that they are working fine just not showing in drop down.

I know Qt (the platform we build LightBurn with) and LB have some limitation on the length of the font list because it starts to get extremely slow at some point. Over 2000 and we simplify the rendering… Beyond about 4000 though, …

How many fonts do you have installed on that computer?

Try uninstalling the fonts you recently installed and then reinstall them one by one.
You may find that you have an offending font file.
I recently stuggled with an issue on one particular font and it turned out to be that particular font.

Not sayint this will fix the issue but it may help narrow down the issue, i.e., LightBurn or a trash font file.

Do you know how to uninstall a font via Windows Settings?
