Lost home with an acmer p3

Im running a acmer p3 laser with the lightburn software. have made multiple projects just fine. turned machine on and tried to home it but when it goes to home position it doesnt stop. both limit switches have been checked and both work until it goes to home position. please help. have projects waiting to be made.

To test your switches, very slowly jog onto the switch until:

  1. You get an alarm ( switch is good )
  2. You hit the rail ( switch is not being reached )

Check both Y and Y.

limit switches are hitting screws. ive checked nthat already.

Run up on both switches. Then enter ? In the Console window. You should get a line that contains “MPos” in it. Copy and paste that line in a Reply.

This says the Yaxis switch is closed, but not the Xaxis switch.

Jog off the switches and repeat for another reading.

Hard limit triggered. Machine position is likely lost due to sudden and immediate halt. Re-homing is highly recommended.

this is with both limits pressed at home postion.

What we need to know is the condition of the Xaxis switch when the trolley is not on the switch. Just power up and not Home it if you can. If it Homes automatically, then enter $X in the Console window, to do a reset and unlock, so you can Jog off the switches.

Then do the ? thing again.

laser is sitting one inch off home position on both x and y.

Both switches pressed = “Pn:Y” Yaxis switch is closed)
No switch pressed = no “Pn:”.

Looks like the Xaxis switch is not being closed.

  1. Broken wire between switch and controller board.
  2. Switch out of adjustment.
  3. Bad switch.

Fix the switch problem and you should be able to Home the machine. Toss in using Absolute Coords and you should be back in business.
