Mac OS 15.3, Lightburn compatibility, and FTP

I recently upgraded from an old 2015 MAC intel chip, running an old MAC OS to a new MAC Mini M4 Pro. on the old 2015 MAC, I had LightBurn installed and could communicate to the laser (Omtech 80W with Ruida controller) over a wired ethernet connection through my ISP router local port.
I think that the old version of Lightburn I have transferred files to the Laser via FTP on port 23, at least I think so.
I upgraded my Mac and am now running OS 15.3. I installed my version of LightBurn on it (old version), and I inserted the license I have for it. The SW runs, but will no longer communicate with the Laser. The static IP is set as it always was on the laser, I confirmed my laser IP settings in Lightburn, and I can ping the laser from my new MAC. When I open a command terminal on the mac and try to telnet into the controller, to my surprise the latest MAC OS has removed FTP.
So, after all that, my question is, if I buy a new license for Lightburn and download the latest version, does it fix my issue, is SFTP used instead, or SSH, and does the rhoda support that?

Thanks

My question is why are you using telnet? Lightburn can communicate directly with your laser. If it has a valid IP address on your LAN, set it up in Lightburn as Ethernet connection using the IP address. Devices button, Create Manually> Ruida> Ethernet> Enter IP Address> Name it and enter bed dimensions> Set origin and click Finish.

I am not using telnet. I did just as you mentioned and have mine set up that way. I made an assumption that his lightburn is communicating with the.Ruida Controller, that it has to be by one of these methods: FTP, SFTP, or SSH. since my old Mac worked in my new Mac does not, and I know that my new Mac no longer has FTP, then I assumed that that was the problem.

The Ruida speaks UDP, there is no FTP type login. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

In 2021, FTP support was dropped by Google Chrome and Firefox browsers.

:smiley_cat:

Good to know. Now I am not sure what the heck is going on. Maybe the port is blocked on my firewall? Any idea what port is used?

Maybe I need to break out wireshark. Assuming there is a wireshark for Mac OS

I figured it out. Lightburn was being blocked by Mac. A simple toggle under Privacy & Security->Local Network did the trick
