Will Lightburn run on the new Mac M1 chip?
Lightburn supports Macs…
Download the trial and check it out…
I plan to purchase a new Macbook Air ($1200) to run my laser. I need to know if Lightburn will run on it before I “check it out” to see if it will run. Haha
If you are set on a mac… I’m sure they support the new processor, there is no mention of that chip being an issue and it’s been out long enough.
This is one reason I no longer support any apple products. I spent almost $6K on a machine and in 3 months they changed to the Intel chip. Within two years I could not even use the browser on it, complained it needed an update, which didn’t exist. So Apple virtually ‘bricked’ it. Moved to Linux, permanently and dumped apple products forever. Have never missed them…
Good luck… You can always send an email to support and ask, I would before spending $1200.
Report back here, so other will be ‘enlightened’…
I think you’ll find it’s supported.
Good luck, take care
For what it’s worth, LightBurn absolutely runs on M1 chips under emulation. The LightBurn team is also planning a native ARM release but no ETA.
Also, LightBurn offers a trial license to try before buying. Not as relevant here since you’re buying a new computer.
“Set on a Mac”? Yeah, I’ve been running Apple computers since the early 80’s (before they made the Mac).
Went with them when they went to the Unix like OS. Have never really been happy with the large companies wanting to know all about you for no real reason.
Just buy a PC compatible and load Ubuntu on it, been a happy camper. My wife has a Windows box, that I have a ‘Speed and Feed’ program for the CNC, but that’s the only time I use Windows…
Just can’t afford to support an obviously planned end to my system with little or no warning, in a relatively short time period.
Now they want to be ‘law enforcement’ and scan all of your photos…
Was in computers in the 70’s and spent lots of time at Comdex. Spoke to both Apple and Microsoft about a job with them. Wish I would have taken it… Both Microsoft and Apple had only a few employees at the time.
Didn’t want to live in California or Washington, couldn’t take my guns with me…
I run my Omtech laser with an M1 Mini. We ran CNC and shipping computer with Macs ever since the first Mac.
Jack, I live in California and did work for Apple for a short time. I always suggest that people use whatever works for them - whether it’s a computer, vehicle or firearms. Haha.
