Mac to Laser Connection - There was a problem sending data to the laser. The machine may be busy or paused

Recently upgraded to a new MacBook Air - M4 running Tahoe 26.3 to use with my Boss LS 1630 -Ruida. Lightburn is updated to the latest version. Previously had no issues with connection to my laser, but now after every job completed I get the message:

“There was a problem sending data to the laser. The machine may be busy or paused.”

If I unplug the USB C and plug it back in it will connect immediately when I hit Send. What changed that my new laptop is having this issue. Old machine still works fine.

Don’t quite follow you… from the description is seems the unplug/plug usb allows it to connect.

Frankly, I’d suggest you attach the Ruida to your lan and use that to get the data to the laser. Ethernet is very dependable, once setup.

With the USB-C to USB-C cable and IOS, this normally does not work. Also strange that it occurs at the end of a run.

You might try inserting a dirt cheap hub with USB-A connectors on it. Sometimes with USB-C connectors, IOS will not downshift the USB-3.0 protocol to USB-2.0 needed for the laser.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t solve the problem, the “connection problems” have come with LB ver.2 I would dare to say and I have read it from at least one other user with the same controller. However, we have this problem when we send the start signal and not after the job is done…

I’m still on version 1.7 using Ubuntu.. Have a Mac notebook, but it’s always dead as I don’t use it.

There is no doubt that Ethernet is more dependable… I don’t know how Lightburn handled it in the new release.

Connection problems are between the laser and the PC operating system. The OS then hands off the connection info to Lightburn. I wonder if LB changed the interface code…?

All I’m saying is that I observe a different communication between LB and my laser than under version 1.7.xx, nothing else. That there are others who see something similar/the same, is either coincidence or an error in their communication between their endpoints. What is the cause is up to the experts. I have documented my problems and reported them to LB.

Just for info, with my Ubuntu computer and ver.1.7.xx there are zero connection problems and it is of course the same network…
