I have hobby CNC router with AXBB-E controller and running with Mach3. I just purchased laser with Lightburn software and I would need some help to get it running.
Which device should I select in Lightburn to get G-code for Mach3?
Do I need to modify G-code somehow to run on Mach3 program.
I think you should look for MillMage, it’s the second program from LightBurn, intended for routers.
Does MillMage control AXBB-E directly or I still need Mach3?
I’m othervise very happy with Vectric Aspire to make G-code and Mach3 has everithing that I need for CNC miling.
All I need now is to upgrade my router with laser. I have already purchased Lightburn software and PLH3D-XT-50 laser from Optlasers company and I understood that it should work fine with my AXBB-E controller.
I don’t know your controller, but it requires the specific version of LB - MillMage, to be able to control a cnc router with. LightBurn is “only” for laser.
I don’t know if your cnc controller is supported by MillMage, but I think Mac3 machines are supported.
Lets stick to laser topic here. I’m not running router and laser at the sime time so it is not relevant how I’m controlling router.
For laser engraving, can I control AXBB-E with Lightburn directly?
–>If yes, then which device should I choose in Lightburn?
–>If not, then I preferably would create G-code with Lightburn and use it in Mach3. But I would still need to select one device in Lightburn. Which one?
You are the one who brought up the CNC router, maybe I misunderstood your question.
But try to see if you can find any answers here:
I searched earlier and did it again now, but couldn’t find answer. Five years ago there was one post, but it didn’t quite give any answer. There are few other posts showing that people use AXBB-E, but those topics cover other issues.

No, that controller looks to be designed for use with Mach3 and Mach4 and we don’t support that type of controller. You would need to use one of: grbl, smoothieware, marlin, Ruida, Top Wisdom, or Trocen
There’s a Mach flavor of Custom GCode in the upcoming 2.1 and in MillMage.
Good to hear.
Meanwhile, should I select Custom GCode (experimental) and start experimenting how code behaves in Mach3? Is there anything to pay attention?
