Machine Settings Blank

I changed some settings on my machine to do some rotary work. Now, when I want to go back to the “Machine Settings” option, it just comes up blank, says it can’t connect to the controller and says the laser is Busy. I tried a factory reset. I turned everything off and on. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software, but nothing is working. I just want to be able to change the settings back to my original default.

I’m working on a Dell Inspiron with Windows 11 and an Ortur Laser Master 3. If anyone has any ideas to help, that would be greatly appreciated.

The Machine Settings change likely has nothing to do with connection issue.

How is your machine connected to the computer? If on USB make sure that you have a proper connection. Try changing ports and see if that changes anything.

Can you confirm that you get a connection ding noise when plugging in the cable?

If that doesn’t change anything, make sure that the correct port for your laser is selected in Laser window. You could also try starting LightBurn only after turning on your laser.

If none of this helps, go to Device Manager and confirm that your device is showing there when turned on. Take a screenshot of the Port assigned to the laser if possible.

Then take a full screenshot of LightBurn with Laser and Console windows showing.

Thank you. I use wifi connection. The USB connection has only half worked for me since buying (meaning a cut will quit because of disconnection in the middle of it), but wifi has been excellent, and I’ve had no issues.

I hooked up the USB, and machine settings opened up like normal, and I was able to change some things. However, when I went to cut, it disconnected in the middle again. The computer sits undisturbed, so I’m sure it’s a poor cable. When I switched back to wifi, I made sure everything was reconnected, and it does the same thing as in my first question.

I’ve taken a couple screenshots. I hope this is what you were meaning.

Your laser is being detected as GRBL-LPC which you don’t want. Can you Push Devcies button, find the laser, then push Edit, and modify the device type to GRBL?

Can you also go to Edit->Device Settings and take a screenshot?

I’m not sure exactly what happened, but it’s working now, and I could change things. Thank you for your help!
