Iʻm beyond frustrated. I am using an atom stack Laser with Lightburn software on a MacBook Pro and for the life of me cannot get a straight answer on placement of images, or “centering” an image. I am sick to death of JARGON. you engineer types need to learn to speak simple English. I am very familiar with graphics programs and have been unable to set guides in the LightBurn workspace. I followed the instructions on this forum but can set a guide. I do not know if this is a MAC problem but it does not work. Every time .0000 on both X and Y positions, the laser starts burning a minimum of a ¼ to ½ inch off of those perameters. I have found no reason for these random starting points. right now my current project is a full 2" off and I have waster so much time and material on this project. Iʻm extremely frustrated and wish there was a MAC based forum because as far as I can tell this program was created for PC and later adapted to MAC complete with unexplained glitches. Is there any way to speak to an actual human to troubleshoot what is going on here? I am a graphic artist thrown into this situation as our laser artist is being treated for cancer right now and I am left dealing with the deadlines.
Whoa fella!
Sorry you are facing some challenges. I bet we can help you get some progress. The forum is for everyone, OS discrimination is not allowed here
.
My first suggestion is to step away for a few minutes and drink some water. If that happens to be in the form of ice floating in a Scotch bath, I promise I won’t judge.
Second, get your process settled with cheap material. Recycled Amazon shipping boxes work great for disposable media. Note, cardboard does not take a heavy power setting and it will smolder if over exposed. Drop your power by %75 and keep an eye on the media until you are comfortable.
Let’s get your design squared away. Has the machine proven to be reliable in the past? If so, it should not be a hardware or a software issue. The wetware, however, can be the source of most of our frustration.
We are here to help, and the forum has members from around the world. Screenshots are the most helpful supporting evidence that you can give us.
What is your media?
Are you using . PNG images (raster) or vector graphic objects?
What are your power and speed settings?
Are you using a jig to align the media to the workspace?
We want to help. Let’s work on this together ![]()
“P” hot key moves the selected objects to the middle of the workspace.
CTRL+P opens the preview window.
Lightburn is very logical in lay out and execution. It took me a minute to learn the logic, but that was more me than it was LB.
To answer that question directly… Select the thing and hit the p key to center that thing in your workspace. ![]()
