Makerbase controller

I have a V1.1 controller connected to a TwoTrees TTS 20W. It has two separate connections to the Y axis. Is it possible to use just one connection from the controller for the two stepper motors? I ask because I’ve built the rotary attachment from the plans here (thanks) and would like to use the second connection to connect to the attachment, obviously disconnecting the other cable. I also read somewhere and I can’t remember where that the Z axis could be used for this. Is it possible or is my head in the clouds!?

Consider what happens when each motor gets half the current it needs to move properly:

Bottom line: probably a Bad Idea.

If I’ve read the specs correctly the two Y axis plugs are wired in parallel therefore one plug should be able to handle the current for two motors. Two trees used to use one plug only, I have the cables for it. The reason for the original question.

Found this on Git Hub. If I could use the Z axis for the rotary it would save having to plug and unplug delicate cables all the time. I’ll look for more info about it all. This was the first step, don’t know how many more there will be.

Yes, you can do this. If it’s a standard MKS board, it’s no issue at all.

Thanks. Yes it’s a standard board. One more thing to learn! I can keep the two connector system for the Y axis. One less bodge to to.
