Good day to you all. I was trying to make a simple box out of Boxes.py. After uploading the file to Lightburn I noticed that the speed (100) and the power (20%} was clearly not enough to cut the box panels. I was using 6mm birch plywood. So do you have to manually change the settings yourself in Lightburn or is it something I omitted in the Boxes.py original settings ?
Thanks.
What format did you export to when you generated the box? Most formats available from boxes.py wouldn’t even include cut setting information so make no attempt to even provide settings. There has been a recent addition to output to .lbrn2 format which I assume includes cut settings. However, there’s no attempt to make those be the correct settings.
In any case, you will need to set the correct settings as appropriate for your laser and the material that you’re cutting.
Thanks for your answer. Being a newbie in using the laser, I’m assuming that you want to know the file format I’m using, witch is SVG.
For future reference SVG files will generally hold vector data for shapes. It won’t have any cut settings. When you import a SVG file into LightBurn layers will be assigned to every shape in the SVG. The cut settings for those layers will be based on either defaults for those layers or based on the last used settings for those layers depending on your specific LightBurn Settings.
Noted. Thank you very much.
