Making the image bigger

I may just be loosing my mind, but every time I try to make this image a little bigger, it doesn’t wrap around the original image. Am I missing something basic?

How am I missing the proportions for this image?

It’s a vector drawing, so the Offset tool will let you create an outline around it:

The resulting shape differs from simple scaling, but that’s probably what you want in this situation.

Did you try a diagonal handle drag?

Click on a corner (i used lower left) hold CTRL and stretch the object equally from the center.

Make sure you have these options turned ON

CTRL+D = duplicate
Then resize and you have exact shape only larger - there are many cats under the skin. It’s a matter of what you want to achieve.

@nelsonmay Remember that the best option for your case is the Offset Tool (outward), which maintains (more or less) a constant distance from the original shape and wraps around it.
The other functions only wrap the original shape while maintaining the proportions if the original can be divided into radial symmetry (like a circle) or X Y symmetry (like a square).
