Material test: is there an easier way to cut out the finished test card?

Is there an easier way to cut out a finished material test card from the piece of stock?

What I have done is saved the test gcode, imported it in a new project, drawn a rectangle around it, then saved the rectangle by itself with the array size and dimensions in the filename. When I run a material test, I then open that rectangle and run a cut with it.

The downside to this method is that I need to have a different rectangle for each size material test I do and if I want to increase/decrease the row/column count or dimensions, I need to make another one.

Is there a better way?

I think it’s in feature suggestions. You can search and upvote it there.

Indeed, it would be nice to be able to save a lbrn2 file out of given settings. I actually thought it was possible… Probably not hard for the LB coders.
Somebody made a similar wish, wanting to add annotations (to burn with the test) to such generated test.

I found somewhere a LB project having a design similar to the one generated by the power test.
I heavily modified it, made several variations of it, depending on needs, material to test, etc.

I can share some of them, as a way to give back to community, feel free to modify them to your needs.
Test_Line__PhiLho.lbrn2 (314.4 KB)
Test_Line+Fill__PhiLho.lbrn2 (381.7 KB)
Test_Small_LineCut_2__PhiLho.lbrn2 (248.6 KB)
They are mostly line tests (for cutting), but it is trivial to change them to fill tests.
Might need to change the fonts, too.

The key feature I didn’t know when I started to use LB is that you can make a row of shapes with a layer color, at given speed and 100 % power. Then for each shape of the line, you can go to the Shape Properties tab (same area as the layers list on the right) and edit the individual power, from 100 % down to 10 % (for example), step by step.
You just have to duplicate the row and change the layer, each shape will keep its own power.
