Material test skips random parts

When starting the material test, random parts are not lasered.
It seems to be no problem with the laser intensity - the positions are not approached by the mechanics at all, but skipped directly…
I use a Co2 laser with RDLC320-A controller.

What can I do to fix this? Thanks a lot and best regards

If the machine has a USB connection to the PC, the problem most likely comes from USB glitches.

The best solution is connecting through the Ruida’s Ethernet port, either directly to the PC or the local network.

This guide should get you started:

Pick an IP address for the laser that’s out of the range the router uses for DHCP requests to prevent the router from plopping another device at the laser’s address. If that happens, all manner of confusing random problems ensue.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Unfortunately, the motherboard of my rather old laser cutter does not have an Ethernet port.
But the hint about USB is good. I will first try whether packet instead of serial is the better USB mode. And the cable is quite long - maybe I can shorten the way.
Thank you very much!

For more than a meter (maybe two, tops), a powered active extender cable seems to help. Find one with power injected from a wall wart at the far end, rather than expecting the PC or the laser controller to also power the extender, which rarely ends well.

Folks have found paying enough for a known-brand cable with ferrite cores tends to also provide better QC on the whole thing; add-on cores can’t improve the (usually sub-standard) wiring.

Good hunting …
