Hello. I was wondering if you could steer me in the right direction. Yesterday I was cutting some material test. After doing several test the laser stopped burning but the machine kept running like it still burning. I was unable to get the laser to fire in the move tab or anywhere else. I rebooted everything and made sure all the setting where correct. I had another laser head and put that on machine today and everything started to work again. I continued doing some material testing using the Lightburn program “ material testing”. While doing my 1st test the different laser did the same thing and wont fire. Now Iam dead in the water till I figure this out. I uninstalled Lightburn and down loaded a old version and still cant get laser to fire. I have checked all the connections. Any ideas? Thanks
Based on your description the issue is almost certainly with the hardware.
I’d suggest examining the cable that goes from your controller to the laser module. When you swapped modules it may just be that jostled the wires where you have a partial break to regain continuity. Or perhaps the connectors are bad.
If you have a meter, test the cable for continuity.
You may also want to check the power supply to make sure it’s providing proper voltage.
Thanks for your input! I tried a spare cable I have but it didnt change anything.
Do you have a meter? I’d suggest checking for proper voltage from the power supply as well as for laser power and PWM from the controller.
I assume your system is a 12V system. You should get 12V from power supply as well as from the power pin of the laser connector.
Then confirm that you’re getting proper PWM voltages from the PWM pin. 0% power will correlate to 0V and 100% power is likely to be either 5V or 3.3V.
Back up and running! Ended up being the control board. Was lucky and had a spare. Thanks
