Maybe I need to get better at booleaning?

Probably a super simple question for some of you power users, but I am at a loss.

Two shapes (a “Box” and a ‘jigsaw’ box). I have established that they are identical heights and widths and are centered. I would like to “keep” the shapes that are on the perimeter - so the 3 rectangles on top and bottom, 2 rectangles on either side, plus the L shapes in the corners. These will turn into my cut-outs in the future for an object being placed into a larger plane that they are being cut out of.

I need to remove the lines between those shapes (4 on top and bottom, 3 on either side). I have indicated one such line with a pink arrow. Currently those are overlapping lines of the “Box” and the “Jigsaw Box”. I can’t seem to find a simple way to do this. Boolean actions (subtract or intersection) seem to be the logical direction, but those aren’t available when I select the two boxes. It can be noted that the jigsaw shape is currently a set of “grouped” lines - so not sure if there is something I need to do more than that to make that a recognized shape in lightburn. Any assistance?

Thanks

In order to use the Boolean tools, the jigsaw will need to be a Closed shape, rather than a collection of Grouped lines. Depending on how you’ve got those lines set up, you may be able to turn it into a Closed shape by ungrouping them and then going to “Edit” > “Auto-join selected shapes” (Alt/Option + J).

Perfect. That worked like a charm. Thank you very much.
