You say you are searching for the laser in LightBurn. Are you referring to the “Find my Laser” function?
This step only needs to be done once to add the device to LightBurn. You then need to select that device here:
Please excuse, if that’s what you were doing already, and something got lost in the translation.
Sometimes, it’s necessary to reset the current device connection by right-clicking the “Devices” button before you can connect.

Basically, what I have to do to get the COM port detected is to open it from another program first, then if it lets me, but if I turn off the recorder, I have to repeat the steps again.
That’s interresting. To recap: LaserWeb is able to connect to your MKS DLC32 controller over USB, but LightBurn is only connecting after you used LaserWeb first.
LaserWeb seems to somehow reset the connection. In your video, you didn’t right-click the Devices button in LightBurn. Did you do this to reset the connection?
Has the problem only recently started, or has it always been this way?
‘WCH’, the manufacturer of the CH340 Serial chip on your controller rolled out a Windows driver update lately!
I have tested this driver on my machine, also using a Makerbase DLC32, but different firmware.
Do you see this in the Windows Update History, and does the installation date correlate with the occurrence of the problem?
Please send us a screenshot of the used driver from the Device Manager. I’m using this one, for example:
