Hi, i woul like use a milling machine with light burn, Is it that posible?? and if yes can somebodi orient it me with reference at Z axe? thanks.
Is your question about trying to use LightBurn for milling as a general purpose CAM software? Or for a very specific single job?
If the former then no, LightBurn isn’t designed to do this and would be missing a lot of features that would be considered standard or critical in CNC operations. For example, LightBurn has no concept of tool bits.
If you were trying to create g-code for a very narrow single purpose and somehow wanted to do this in LightBurn you might be able to get something working but would require you to manually work out how to go about it.
LightBurn has very limited Z control compared to what you would expect in CAM software. It can control Z for jogging, material height adjustment, and per pass Z-offset. LightBurn has no concept of 3D objects.
If this is something you’re trying to do then please explain your project in depth.
My idea comes simply from the result of my frustration after several failed attempts in which I have not been able to cleanly cut some designs on wood. I think that the problem comes from the positioning distance of the laser and for that reason I wanted an alternative.
In that case probably best to work out issues with the laser or export the design from LightBurn and import into a CAM package.
Or if you just need a cut-out of flat material you could probably just export g-code and control Z manually to get to cutting height and let the job run. You could manually account for toolbit size through kerf or through offset. A simple operation would be doable.
OK, thanks very much.
