MillMage 0.9.00 Early Access – RC-4

Version four of our MillMage 0.9 Early Access release is available now. We’ve got more bug fixes and feature updates in this one — overall, we’re getting there!

Just as with LightBurn RCs, you can install MillMage RCs side-by-side with the current official release. That means if you encounter any workflow-breaking bugs in the RC, you can quickly switch back to the official release to keep working.

If you are currently using MillMage with a Core license, head to HelpLicense Management and click the Trial Pro button to get access to all Pro features for two weeks. We will extend Pro trials for our existing Core users for the duration of the 0.9 RC period.

Bug Fixes

  • Spans of zero length were being kept, breaking the math in texture ops
  • Add network permissions to plist for Mac OS 27
  • Fixed copied tool library categories not being saved because duplicated tools shared guids with the originals.
  • Tool library saving no longer drops identical tools that appear in more than one category, and empty categories are now saved.
  • Only allow one tool category creation at a time
  • Re-Exported images would sometimes be rotated 180 degrees from expected
  • Clicking stop button in jog control dock panel correctly returns main window controls to correct state.
  • Adding the TLO reset sequence to manual Z0 set button.
  • Tool library changes are now saved automatically before creating or loading another library, and New Library no longer clears the current library if the file dialog is cancelled.
  • Cancelling the tool library dialog no longer leaves stale tool lookup data.
  • New operations now default to the first library tool compatible with the operation type instead of a generic end mill.
  • The tool picker no longer allows creating or selecting tool types invalid for the current operation, and cancelling the picker no longer applies the selection.
  • Fix circle detection logic
  • Fix initialization of the cncprobesettingswidget fields for in inputs
  • Fixed Tool Library bug preventing new or duplicated tools from being deleted without closing and reopening the library.
  • Fixed tool library bug that prevented new tool copies from displaying a preview.
  • Fixed bug causing incorrect background color of pattern preview image in texture operation settings.
  • Fixed texture operation bug causing incorrect scale and offset of pattern preview image when raster angle is not 0°.
  • Newer Qt was no longer resolving host names in some cases

Existing Feature Updates

  • Only change active device on project load, not on Page Change.
  • Closing the tool library window now saves pending changes; the Cancel button still discards them.
  • When no compatible tool exists the operation editor shows an empty tool setup and disables OK until a tool is selected.

Can we maybe select a default tool for each operation type if no tool selected ?

And then we forget to change it to the right one?

I would select one that makes it obvious it’s wrong when looking at the preview, whereas the first in the list might be less obvious. If a default is not selected it could still use 1st avail.

We could discuss the merits all day long, but the ultimate requirement is to confirm everything is right before hitting the Run button. There are a lot of players in the game (exe’s, dll’s, ini’s, xml’s, db’s, and so on) that can be affected by other running applications or operating systems. You never know who is doing what in the computer. And I say that with authority because I was an Applications Developer.

Agreed, 2 roads to the same destination. Your comment about other players in the game threw me for a bit, they “should” only affect performance not results from the point of view of an ex systems analyst.

We are not talking about Windows, right?
