I can move the spindle and design things in MillMage but when I try to frame or start the project it does nothing at all. Have a Genmitsu 4040 PRO MAX CNC router that’s brand new and it works with other programs like Easel so kind of confused. Would really appreciate it if anyone can help out.
Hi Gary,
Can you confirm that you have fully closed Easel and any other CNC programs that may be running? They can maintain a connection to your Genmitsu and prevent MillMage from taking control.
This page of our docs should also help: Connection Problems - MillMage Documentation
Just checked and neither Easel or any other CNC software is running in the background and it still doesn’t frame or start the project.
Are you seeing any error messages in the Console window?
No error messages in the console.
Did you go through the docs @Colin suggested?
Yes I did and I had already tried those things. I had also tried a lot of different things that AI had suggested but still haven’t solved the issue yet.
Welcome, and thank you for posting, @GaryandJoe. If willing, share your MillMage project file for review. ![]()
Home the machine, then enter G0 X50 Y50 in the Console window. Does it move?
It moved without any issues but that has never been a problem. I tried framing and starting the project after that though and it still did nothing. I also completely unplugged the router from everything, left it and then plugged it back into everything and still did nothing when trying to frame or start the project.
Were you not able to share the design (.mage) file as @Rick asked?
That is an image file, not a .mage file. The .mage file is your MillMage project design file.
For some reason it calls it an .svg file but when I upload it on to the forum it turns into an image file. I thought MillMage can read .svg files?
My bad, it is an SVG. Until I actually save it, I get no clue it is SVG.
But back to the subject, we need the MillMage design file (like Diamond Pocket.mage) so we can see what you are actually trying to accomplish.
I originally designed it in LightBurn on the computer for my laser but wanted to try MillMage for my router so I exported it into an .svg file, put it on a usb drive then imported it to MillMage on the computer for my router. That being said, I don’t think I have a .mage file for the design. Could that be the problem?
FYI, You can open Lighburn files directly in MillMage and vice versa. It’s another great benefit have using both apps.
I just tried using the .lbrn2 file on my router computer with MillMage as suggested however, it still didn’t frame or start milling.
You know that you have to add “Operation” to produce something?
Good catch:
