Several cracked versions we’ve seen online, exploit the local ‘Hosts’ file to redirect online services to the computer where the software is installed, disabling the License Verification features.
In the event of a license verification failure, anti-piracy countermeasures may emerge.
Deleting or uninstalling a cracked copy of a software package that exploits the Hosts file (regardless of how it came to be installed on a particular device) may not repair any of the files damaged by the cracked version. Often the Hosts file can be repaired manually.
