I’ve been using Lightburn on a C02 laser for a while and recently built a hot wire foam cutter. I went with the DLC32 Max board. I got everything set up and I have motion. From the move tab I can move the machine and it moves in the correct directions. There is only X and Y…No Z.
When I hit the homing button(s), I get a sounds like the drives enabled, but I get no motion. I have hard limits and homing cycle enabled. I can type in G92X0Y0Z0 but I’d rather get homing working. In this example, I set machine zero using G92, then his the homing button and the following error popped up…
Alarm 9: Homing fail. Could not find limit switch within search distance. Defined as 1.5 * max travel on search and 5 * pulloff on locate phases.
It’s like it can’t find the limit switches, but it’s not even trying. No movement at all. After the failed homing cycle, the machine position shows X: 1000.44 Y: 464.96 Z: 96. The X and Y machine bounds (size) are only 500mm.
Maybe a photo of the machine will help more.
For a foam cutter I believe we only need 2 dimensions the 3rd is the foam thickness. Maybe you have to reroute the motors connections to match the “moves” in LightBurn.
I can upload a photo tomorrow, but basically the machine works. It is 2 axis and X an Y motion match the X and Y jog buttons. The issue is that homing doesn’t work at all. No motion at all. It just generates an error about one second after hitting the home button. I’m kind of thinking that it is trying to home Z, X and Y in that order and since I don’t have a Z (or a Z limit switch), it just errors when it tries to home Z. That would explain why X and Y don’t move at all. I looked through the machine settings and didn’t see any way to disable homing on just one axis.
Send the question mark command (?) in the console and show the output. The most common issue is that the switches are inverted and constantly activated.
