MM Missing Tool Length Code

I went to run the Tool Length Wizard but nothing would happen. It acts like there is missing code. I recorded all of the steps below. Step 6 does not have code in the white box. Step 7 inserts a black bock, but nothing happens. My machine never moves. It is connected because I can job it and was playing with some test material.

got it working. I went through the Manage Probe Configuration first. Here is what it looks like.

New issue: I have material Zero point set at TOP. When running the Tool Length Probe, the head runs all the way to the top so, z=0 is all the way up. Then it cycles downward until it touches the plate. I had to set Search Z to a huge number so it would not cycle out. Why is it running all the way up?

When you Home the machine, Zzero is set when it finds the upper limit switch. This is a machine design thing.

I use a mechanical method to set the tool length, so I am not helpful on why you have to set a large “Search Z” value.

I expect it is going to a known safe position to start the cycle.
