Modify basic shapes, such as remove a section of a line

Using a basic rectangle as an example, how can I remove part of one of the lines; i.e., cut an opening in the side. Also can I drag a corner to change either the shape of the rectangle or make one of the walls go at an angle?

Couple of different ways. I would probably use the node edit tool. Click on triangle then right click and convert to path, then over to left for node edit tool. You can insert nodes and delete line in between.

Thank you for responding to my question. Iā€™m still having issues. I drew a rectangle, converted to path, and clicked on the node edit tool. I inserted a node, but when I tried to delete the line by using control+I, it pulled up an ā€œImport Fileā€ screen instead of deleting the line. Huh?? What did I do wrong?
Also, when I tried to delete a node by hovering over it and using control+D, nothing happened.
Iā€™m brand new to all this, so maybe Iā€™m just doing something wrong but I have no idea what. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hover your mouse/pointer over the node edit tool icon until a tooltip pops up. It will list the different keyboard shortcuts available. This method (hover tooltip) works for many things in Lightburn and is invaluable for those of us that struggle to recall the many shortcuts.

Basic process (there are also alternatives) is:
Insert two nodes
Break those two nodes
Delete line segments between those two nodes.

I use Trim quite a bit.

D to delete.

Once in the Node Editor, thereā€™s no need for the Ctrl key. Just d (no need to shift for D) to delete. Similarly for i to insert a node.
